Behind the Name

As I'm going to New York very soon, I decided this blog be dedicated entirely to those adventures. Until then, of course, I must find something entertaining to write about. Today, it's the story behind the name of this blog.

Insert disclaimer for future reference: I hate the word blog.

But it needed a name. And I wanted to incorporate "New York" or "NYC" or "Empire State" somewhere in the title. So I turned to Wikipedia and looked at the complete list of songs about New York. Then I saw it. "An Open Letter to NYC" by the Beastie Boys. A blog is like a letter of sorts. It made complete sense. I went straight to YouTube and found this:

Not my typical kind of music, but hey. It made a totally great name for this. So as I continue to study for my last final of the semester, I'll leave you with these lyrics:
